CRYING CLUB

About program
Grieving, crying and empathy in contemporary performance.
The CRYING CLUB: GRIEVING & EMPATHY programme block explores grieving as both a personal and social experience, need and theme. Through performances by the most prominent figures on the contemporary scene, it explores the themes of loss and empathy in their many forms – from intimate farewells and sorrow through to environmental grief and empathy. Here, performance creates a space for mourning, extreme closeness and empathy as active forms of attention towards ourselves, others and the world. This series of performative experiences, lectures and discussions presents grief or crying not as a private emotion, but as a radical experience that transforms our relationships, our bodies and our visions of the future.
